Monday January 23

No construction project travel impacts currently scheduled on 321 in Blowing Rock today.

Tuesday January 24

Construction operations will continue today on 321 in Blowing Rock with flagging/lane closures from Cone Orchard Ln to south of Elk Ridge Ln for paving. Motorists should expect delays in this area.

Wednesday January 25

8:10am – Accident with Injuries Blowing Rock Road near Bojangles, Emergency Personnel on scene, expect delays and use caution in the area.

Flagging operations today on 321 in Blowing Rock from Cone Orchard Ln to Blackberry Rd. Expect delays.

9:15pm – Delays and detours on 421 in Vilas continue due to earlier accident.

Thursday January 26

Construction operations continue today on 321 in Blowing Rock with no flagging/lane closures currently scheduled on the project. Motorists are encouraged to remain alert for the most recent temporary traffic shift/new traffic pattern activated late yesterday afternoon from just south of Cone Orchard Ln to Blackberry Rd. Paving and pavement marking operations were completed in this area yesterday evening and traffic is now traveling along sections of the new alignment. This temporary shift/new traffic pattern is expected to remain in place over the next several weeks as various work along this section of the project continues including grading, paving, curb & gutter and guardrail installation. Motorists are encouraged to slow down when traveling to/through this area for the first time in order to become familiar with the new pattern.

Friday January 27

5:54am – US HWY 321 S below the Green Park Inn is becoming slippery. Reported there are some stranded motorists. DOT notified. Officers preparing to close 321 S 5700 Block Tire and Auto area, below Caldwell County line. Very slippery.

6:14am Friday January 27 – Watauga Schools are now on a 2 hour delay due to road conditions in certain parts of the county.

6:30am – Other than 321, there are no other major reported issues at this time, but be aware of changing conditions.

8:01am – According to NCSHP traffic is flowing northbound and southbound on 321 near Blowing Rock now.
