High Winds Lead To Saturday Power Outages

Wind gust of 50 mph and more lead to fallen trees and limbs on power lines in the area on Saturday, resulting in power outages. According to Blue Ridge Electric: For Saturday, April 9, a total of 326 members were affected by power outages created by very high winds that caused several fallen trees and limbs on power lines. Outages were scattered throughout the day. Here's a breakdown by county:

Watauga County: 91 members affected primarily in the Dutch Creek and Matney areas. Outages began at 12:12 pm. and all were restored by 12:59 pm

Ashe: 133 members affected primarily in the Rich Hill Rd. and Shelter Baptist Church Rd areas. Began at 6:41 a.m. and restored by 11:34 pm

Caldwell: 84 members affected primarily in the Buffalo Cove area. Began at 8:40 a.m. and restored by 2:13 pm

Alleghany: 18 members affected in the Old Mill Road area. Began at 4 pm; restored by 4:31 pm.
