High Wind Warning In Effect From 7pm Until 5pm Wednesday – Feb 12-13, 2019

…HIGH WIND WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM THIS EVENING TO 5 PM EST
WEDNESDAY…

The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a High Wind
Warning, which is in effect from 7 PM this evening to 5 PM EST
Wednesday.

* Winds…Northwest 20 to 30 mph, with gusts to 60 mph. 

* Timing…Tonight through Wednesday, with the strongest gusts 
likely overnight.

* Impacts…Trees and power lines may be toppled given the wet
soil conditions. Minor structural damage could also occur along
the ridges.

* Locations…North Carolina High Country into Grayson County
Virginia.

* Hazards…Strong to damaging winds.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A High Wind Warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected
or occurring. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts
of 58 mph are likely to cause power outages…fallen trees…
property damage…and dangerous driving conditions for high
profile vehicles. Move unfastened items…such as garbage cans
and deck furniture…indoors.
