Heavy rain with possible flooding problems will be the weather story this weekend.
The National Weather Service says, in a Friday afternoon update, that around 3 inches for the Boone area is likely from Saturday night through Monday night. Isolated thunderstorms are also possible. Temperatures will stay mild enough that no winter weather is expected for most of the area.
NWS says that localized flooding may occur with rises on area creeks and streams.
A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for East Tennessee, portions of Virginia and a portion of southwest North Carolina, that could be expanded to include the High Country if conditions warrant.
