Funeral Services Announced For Wilkes County Born Highway Patrolman Killed In Monday Night Crash

Funeral services have been announced for a North Carolina Highway Patrolman from Wilkes County killed in a Monday night crash in Surry County.

Trooper Samuel Newton Bullard, 24, of Ronda passed away on May 21, 2018.  Trooper Bullard was born on August 24, 1993 in Wilkes County to Samuel Wayne Bullard and Suzanne Roux Felts, according to Elkin Funeral Service 

Bullard was killed while pursuing a driver that ran a checkpoint. The North Carolina Highway Patrol is seeking help in finding the driver. 

Trooper Bullard was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, James and Judy Felts.

Survivors include: father, Samuel Wayne Bullard; mother, Suzanne Felts; fiancée, Michelle Leigh Mathis; paternal grandparents, Steve and Jenny Brown; brother, Jack Felts; sister, Olivia Bullard; uncles, Jason Bullard; Jeremy Bullard; Benny Bullard; James Felts Jr.; aunt, Naomi Felts; cousin, Lauren Felts; special friends and extended family, David and Tommy Johnson; Trooper Brandon Cox and wife Victoria; Cass and April Davis; Brayden Davis;Tristan Davis; Chelsea Edwards; Trooper Patrick Ellis and wife Melody; Sgt. Brandon Stokes and wife Lisa; Trooper Rodney Hall & wife Tasha.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, May 25, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at John A. Walker Center in Wilkesboro, NC with Rev. Victor Church officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. prior to the service. Burial, with full honors provided by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol Honor Guard, will follow at Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery in Ronda with Rev. Mike Smith officiating.
