Frost-Freeze Alerts To Begin April 1 By National Weather Service

Last Updated on March 31, 2016 11:45 am

The National Weather Service announced this week that they will begin issuing freeze warnings and frost advisories as needed starting Friday April 1, 2016. This is one month earlier than the average start of the Frost-Freeze program for North Carolina, and about a week and half earlier than average for Virginia.

The Weather Service notes that local agricultural experts have reported that many of these areas are two to four weeks ahead of normal in terms of fruit tree blossoms and other early growth of susceptible vegetation for which a freeze or frost could potentially cause damage.
