The National Weather Service has issued both a Wind Advisory and Flood Watch for Watauga. Wind gusts up to 50 mph are possible, as the Advisory is in effect until midnight. The Weather Service cautions that downed trees and sporadic power outages are possible. A Wind Advisory means sustained winds of 31 to 39 mph, or gusts of 46 to 57 mph are expected.

A Flash Flood Watch has also been issued through Thursday morning for Watauga, Ashe, Avery & Wilkes in the immediate area. The Weather Service says that a total of at least two inches is expected starting Wednesday afternoon. Amounts at or slightly above three inches are possible in some locations. The heaviest rain will fall within a six hour window between 6pm Wednesday and midnight, the Weather Service says.
