The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch and a Wind Advisory for the High Country until Tuesday afternoon. Locally heavy rainfall rates for Monday evening and night will be possible, especially in the eastern end of Watauga County near the Blue Ridge Mountains the Weather Service says. Flooding will be possible in the usual low lying flood prone areas of the county. Ashe and Wilkes counties are also under the Watch, while Avery County is under a Watch through Thursday morning.
