The National Weather Service in BLACKSBURG has issued a

* Flood Advisory for…
Alleghany County in northwestern North Carolina…
Northwestern Surry County in northwestern North Carolina…
Northwestern Wilkes County in northwestern North Carolina…
Watauga County in northwestern North Carolina…
Ashe County in northwestern North Carolina…
Southwestern Carroll County in southwestern Virginia…
The City of Galax in southwestern Virginia…
Grayson County in southwestern Virginia…

* Until 1230 AM EST

* At 637 PM EST, flooding was still ongoing across Ashe County, and
river levels on the New River in Ashe, Watauga and Grayson
Counties were still running high. County officials report no
recent new areas of flooding, and rainfall has also recently
started to lighten up in intensity. However, another round of
heavier rains is expected again before midnight which may worsen
or trigger new areas of flooding.

Sparta…
Jefferson…
and West Jefferson.

When it is safe to do so, please send your reports of flooding,
including mudslides or flooded roads, to the National Weather Service
