Flash Flood Watch In Effect From Tuesday Morning – Wednesday Evening, May 29-30, 2018

UPDATE – Flood Watch has been extended until 8pm Wednesday.

…FLASH FLOOD WATCH NOW IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS EVENING…

The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for

* Portions of North Carolina and Virginia, including the
following areas, in North Carolina, Alleghany NC, Ashe, Surry,
Watauga, and Wilkes. In Virginia, Bedford, Carroll, Floyd,
Franklin, Grayson, Henry, Patrick, and Roanoke.

* Through this evening

* Abundant tropical moisture across the region will result in
additional showers and thunderstorms into early this evening.
Rainfall totals could reach 1 to 3 inches in spots with locally
higher amounts possible.

* Flash flooding will be possible in areas of torrential
rainfall. Flash flooding of streams and creeks may develop very
quickly under these circumstances.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
Remember…TURN AROUND…DON`T DROWN!

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
