…FLASH FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT FROM NOON EDT TODAY THROUGH LATE TONIGHT…
The National Weather Service in Blacksburg has issued a Flash Flood Watch for portions of North Carolina and Virginia From noon today through late tonight.
Including the following areas in North Carolina:
Alleghany NC, Ashe, Rockingham, Stokes, Surry, Watauga, Wilkes, and Yadkin.
In Virginia, Bedford, Campbell, Carroll, Floyd, Franklin, Grayson, Henry, Patrick, and Pittsylvania.
Repetitive rounds of heavy rain from thunderstorms on increasingly saturated soils will make conditions more favorable for flash flooding.
Areas along and east of the Blue Ridge that have had several inches of rain since Monday afternoon will be more favorable for flash flooding.
Streams, creeks, and small rivers, as well as urban areas could have flooding issues this afternoon into tonight, as locally heavy rains exceeding 2 inches in less than an hour are possible.
A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION.
Remember…TURN AROUND…DON’T DROWN!
