Fire Destroys Double Wide On Jenwil Drive Thursday Night

Last Updated on March 26, 2022 2:51 pm

Multiple fire departments responded to a double wide home on fire Thursday night.

The home, at 188 Jenwil Drive in the Stoney Fork community, was a total loss according to Jay Kerley, Watauga County Assistant Fire Marshal.

Kerley tells WataugaOnline.com that the older model home had recently been moved to its current location and was being remodeled. The home was not occupied at the time of the fire, which was dispatched out around 11:47 pm. Kerley added that the cause was combustibles too close to a wood stove that had been in use earlier in the day as remodeling work was taking place.

Kerley, along with the office of the State Fire Marshal, reminds everyone to make sure your wood stove is 3 feet from anything that can burn, do not burn paper in your wood stove and put the fire out before you go to sleep or leave your home.

Deep Gap Fire, Todd Fire, Boone Fire, Stewart Simmions Fire, Fleetwood Fire, Champion Fire (Wilkes County), Watauga Medics and Watauga Rescue all responded to the scene.
