Blue Ridge Electric Members to Receive Rate Reduction on January 2015 Bills

Last Updated on December 15, 2014 5:45 pm

Christmas came early as a temporary rate reduction was approved for Blue Ridge Electric members on their January bills, thanks to the Board of Directors of Blue Ridge Electric Membership Corporation.

The typical member using 1,000 kilowatt hours of electricity monthly will save $9. Overall, the rate reduction will save the members of Blue Ridge Electric more than $1 million in January.

“We’re pleased to provide this rate reduction to help our members during a time when more heating, lighting and other needs increase electricity usage, causing bills to be higher this time of year, said Chief Executive Officer Doug Johnson.

“As a cooperative, we're not in business to make a profit–we're here to provide service at the lowest possible cost,” Johnson added. “That’s why we’re pleased to be able to provide the rate reduction and some much needed relief for our members.”

Members wanting to reduce their electricity usage and bills further will find helpful tips online under the GreenSmart tab at www.BlueRidgeEMC.com or by asking for an energy efficiency booklet by contacting any local Blue Ridge Electric office.
