BATMobile And Local Law Enforcement Team Up Again Resulting in 13 Charges

On Thursday, September 18, 2014, the Boone Police Department along with the Appalachian State University Police Department, Blowing Rock Police Department and North Carolina Highway Patrol conducted an impaired driving checking station on NC Hwy 105 at High School Drive.

As a result of the checking station, the following charges were made:

• 3 Driving While Impaired;
• 2 Driving While License Revoked;
• 1 Drug Violation;
• 1 Alcohol Violations;
• 6 Other Motor Vehicle Law Violations.

15 officers and a BATMobile, a Governor’s Highway Safety Program mobile breath-alcohol testing unit, participated in the checking station. In March local law enforcement introduced the first regular scheduled use of the unit and will continue to conduct checking stations over the next several months.
