Attempted Traffic Stop Leads To Chase In Watauga, Ends In Ashe With Deputies Cars Damaged

An attempted traffic stop in Watauga County, on Saturday afternoon, ended with two Ashe County deputies cars damaged.

The attempted stop began on Meat Camp Road then to Ball Branch Road when the driver attempted to hit a Watauga deputy's car, according to a Sheriff's Department report.

The chase continued up highway 194 north into Ashe County, where Ashe deputies took over. Two of the Ashe cars were hit by the driver the reports says, and his vehicle came to a stop near the Watauga/Ashe line on highway 221.

The driver was arrested by Ashe County and given $75,000 bond on their charges. He still faces outstanding warrants from Watauga related to the incident.
