ASU Homecoming Parade 2015 This Friday, Motorist Advised To Plan Ahead

*UPDATE – Due to the potential for severe weather on Friday, the ASU Homecoming Parade has been canceled. *

For the first time in more than a decade, the ASU annual homecoming parade will take place on a Friday. The parade this Friday, October 2, starts at 5:45pm and will travel through downtown Boone on King Street and conclude on Hamby Alley by 7:00pm.

Below is the parade route from the Downtown Boone Development Association:

The parade will start at 5:45 p.m. with roads closing around 5:30 p.m. All traffic lanes through downtown will remain open until that time.

For a short period during the parade, traffic coming into town from the west will be rerouted via the Poplar Grove Connector.

The parade route will travel west on Rivers Street, up Waters Street, and then right traveling east onto King Street with sections of Rivers, Waters, and King streets reopening as the parade moves through downtown.

The step-off for the parade will be at the Peacock lot (formerly the Raley lot) just off Rivers Street.

The parade will conclude on Hamby Alley around 7 p.m. and will unload at the Legends parking lot.

Parking – Parade parking will be available after 5 pm. at the Watauga County Human Services parking lot located off the Poplar Grove Connector. There will be no changes to parking on Friday before the parade, and parking enforcement will conclude at 5pm, as usual.
