Appalachian State Police Announce Arrest In Sexual Assault Case

The Appalachian State Police Department on Thursday announced an arrest in a recent sexual assault that took place on campus. The assault reportedly occurred on August 19, 2017, in a campus residence hall.

In a statement from the department, “As a result of the investigation regarding this case conducted by detectives with the Appalachian State University Police Department, the suspect, Devin Austin Parks, 20, of Charlotte, North Carolina, was arrested and charged with (1) count of Sexual Battery.”

The statement goes on to say that Parks was arrested by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police and transported to the Mecklenburg County Detention Facility. Additionally, Parks has been banned from all Appalachian State University property. Parks is not affiliated with Appalachian State University.
