Update Tuesday 10:30am – Several local residents that know the family tell WataugaOnline.com that it appears the child will be ok following surgery on Monday in Johnson City.
Trooper Josh Hodges has also said it appears the boy will ok, according to multiple media reports. The boy was riding his bicycle in front of a landscaping truck, being moved by his father, when the accident occurred.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to assist the family with medical cost.
A 6-year-old Zionville youth was airlifted with serious injuries after being run over by a truck. EMS units were dispatched to 501 Lucky Lane just before 8:30am on Monday regarding the accident.
According to Dave Faherty with WSOC-TV, state troopers say the accident occurred in the family's driveway when the father was moving a landscaping truck. The boy was riding his bicycle at the time.
