Highway 421 northbound in Deep Gap was closed for nearly two hours after a rollover accident on Sunday. According to scanner dispatches at the time there was a confirmed fatality. Deep Gap Fire, Watauga Medics, Watauga County Sheriff's Deputies and the North Carolina Highway Patrol all responded to the scene near North Pine Run Road. As of Sunday afternoon no other details were available. The road was closed from just after 11:30am to just before 1:30pm.
