2.4 Magnitude Earthquake Measured Between Blowing Rock & Lenoir On Sunday Morning

A 2.4 magnitude earthquake was recorded between Blowing Rock and Lenoir on Sunday morning, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).

The earthquake occurred at 4:46 am and was located 2.2 miles south of Buffalo Cove, 10.1 miles north of Lenoir and 13.7 miles southeast of Boone.

The last time an earthquake was recorded in the High Country was July 21, 2016 when a 1.9 magnitude was centered 5 miles southwest of Newland in Avery County.
